Message from Superintendent Mitchell - Updated 1/6/2021

After consultation with the Anderson County Health Department, the decision has been made to continue full NTI for all students the week of January 11-15, 2021, with limited & targeted* small group instruction.  We will then begin offering in-person instruction along with our virtual and hybrid models on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. (Note: There will be no school Monday, January 18th in observance of Martin Luther King Day.)

*Schools will contact parents of students targeted for the very limited small group instruction. Transportation will be available for targeted students. Learning labs will be open for all students.

Schedule After Christmas Break
On Monday, December 14th Gov. Andy Beshear explained the general guidelines for how Kentucky schools in "red zone" counties can get students back in the classroom next month. The Governor called for  more “aggressive measures,” including that the state's "Healthy at School" guidelines, which have been updated, will potentially be mandatory requirements. Gov. Beshear has stated that he will issue an executive order with specifics on exactly what schools need to do in order to re-open. Anderson County Schools fully intends to begin offering in-person instruction and will send out further details once the executive order is put in place and KDE has issued their additional guidance. We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

K12 Covid-19 Dashboard Available & Parent Notification Procedures

Each day, school administration reports the number of positives and school related quarantines for students and staff using the state reporting tool. Data collected by that tool is available to the public on the K12 Covid-19 Dashboard, located on the KY Covid-19 website. ACSchools Covid-19 plan along with the links above can be found here.

Parent Notification Procedures: Current Public Health guidelines state if students and staff are masked, 6 feet apart and do not participate in high aerosol risk activities (such as singing, cheering or shouting) quarantine would NOT be necessary. Mask breaks of less than 15 minutes are allowed as advised by KDE.   If a child or staff member tests positive in one of our schools, parents will be notified (see school notification chart below).

Mask Wearing Expectations and Student Discipline
With the release of our reopening plan for August 12, we’ve been asked to clarify student discipline around non-compliance of mask wearing.  As advised by Public Health, KDE and the local board attorney, the discipline related to non-compliance should be considered part of the current Code of Conduct and dress code policies.  Teachers and staff will be modeling behaviors and teaching the importance of the CDC guidelines including the reason mask wearing is an expectation while moving at school or when unable to social distance.  Students will be asked to comply and staff will explain the reasons for the guidelines.

    Virtual Graduation 2020

After the event, graduates will have access to a digital download of the virtual ceremony and a digital copy of their picture used in the video.
