Information on COVID-19 Coronavirus

Anderson County Families,

The Governor announced the first confirmed case of the coronavirus in Kentucky on Friday, March 6th.  Over the weekend three more cases were identified. The counties with confirmed cases are Harrison, Fayette and Jefferson.  For the past few weeks, district administrators have been working closely with the Anderson County Health Department, our Healthy Kids Clinic provider, Cumberland Family Medical, Anderson County Emergency Management, State Epidemiologist, and the Kentucky Department of Education to ensure we have a plan and are prepared.  We will continue to attend Local Emergency Planning Committee meetings and the Anderson County Coronavirus Task Force meetings to get updated information as well as stay in contact with the Anderson County Department of Public Safety and Anderson County Health Department.

What we are doing:

  • District Administrators met with School Administrators to review safety plans and make sure schools and staff are equipped with necessary protocol and tools.

  • Schools are regularly wiping down door handles, tables, chromebooks and other high traffic surfaces with CDC approved disinfectants.

  • Students are being encouraged to wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and hand sanitizer is readily available.

  • An ionizer is being used to disinfect classrooms and busses.

  • School Health Nurses received protocol and will follow as advised by the CDC.

 What you can do:

  • Review CDC literature and information regarding the Coronavirus.

  • If your child is experiencing the following symptoms:  fever above 101, diarrhea, vomiting two or more times in the previous 24 hours, or experiencing other cold or flu-like symptoms please do not send them to school.

  • Remind and encourage your children to wash their hands and try to avoid touching their face, eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Remind children to cover their cough or sneeze.

  • The flu is still wide-spread across Kentucky and flu shots are recommended by local health care providers.

During this time, you and/or your child(ren) may feel anxious. It is important to stay calm and follow the information provided by the CDC and keep up to date on the information provided by the CDC, Governor Beshear and the State Epidemiologist.  Some important links that we’ve received are below for your convenience. If we can be of assistance, please notify us. We will provide updates as appropriate.
