Superintendent Mitchell, along with District Administrators, participated in a statewide phone conference this afternoon with the office of the Governor. In that call, Governor Beshear stated that he is not currently recommending schools close but that he wants all Kentucky schools to be prepared in the event that recommendation comes in the future. At this point, school business will continue as normal with extra precautions in place (please refer to our previous article about what we are doing to prevent the spread of illness).
Governor Beshear is recommending that all Kentucky residents follow CDC recommendations including people over 60 and those susceptible to illness staying home as much as possible and avoiding large groups.
