Dear Cynthia,

We know this back-to-school season is anything but typical. On top of navigating changes brought on by covid-19, you're also working with your students to finalize their college lists, complete the FAFSA®, and submit college applications.

The good news is that the College Board Opportunity Scholarships program was created to help your students with these steps while earning the chance at a scholarship for completing each action. The program is currently open to class of 2021 students in the United States, Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories, regardless of citizenship status. U.S. citizens and residents attending Department of Defense Education Activity schools abroad may also participate. At least half of all scholarships are designated for students whose families earn less than $60,000 per year.

The first step in helping your students earn scholarships is to take the College Board Opportunity Scholarships pledge. When you sign up for the pledge, you'll receive a free digital toolkit as well as monthly reminders and resources.

Take the Pledge

The following scholarship steps are currently open, or will be opening soon, for your seniors:

Strengthen Your College List to help those students who haven't yet finalized their list of colleges.

Complete the FAFSA to motivate students to take this important step and not leave money for college on the table. (Please note that students who aren't eligible to complete the FAFSA may still earn an entry for this scholarship.) Tell your students to visit getfafsahelp.org to sign up early for Wyatt?, a free FAFSA assistance chatbot that answers their questions by text.

Apply to Colleges to encourage students to complete their college applications before February.

Whether you're conducting in-person, virtual, or hybrid learning this fall, your students can complete all actions for the College Board Opportunity Scholarships online at cb.org/opportunity. Use this program to support your college advising guidance and calendar. Don't forget to take the pledge today to receive a free digital toolkit and continue supporting your students on their path to college. Thank you for your commitment to your students.

Sincerely,

College Board
