Anderson County Schools

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome Emma B. Ward families to a new school year!  I hope you have had a safe and enjoyable summer.  I am so delighted that you are part of our amazing learning community.  We were hoping to begin in-person instruction, however are so excited to start virtually on September 8th!  This is always one of my favorite times of the year.    I love the excitement of the start of the school year and this year is no exception.

We have been planning and preparing for your child’s arrival!  Our enthusiastic office team is registering new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility. Our teachers and staff have been planning engaging lessons and have logged hours of professional development preparing for new learning platforms and online programming.  The entire staff and I are working hard to see that your child’s learning experience at Emma B. Ward Elementary School is a successful and happy one.

Your partnership and support are key elements to ensuring that we are able to maximize each student’s educational and personal development.  We encourage and look forward to a positive home/school relationship based on the mutual goal of providing the best learning experience possible for all of our students.

Each year brings positive change.  This includes a few additions to our staff.  We are delighted to welcome Ashley Holloman to the 1st grade faculty.  Mrs. Holloman joins us with many years of experience in elementary education.  Her kind and gentle spirit are a wonderful addition to the EBW family.  In addition, we welcome Nick Maples who will be serving in the role of special education paraeducator.  Mr. Maples brings a solid skill set and a sensitive approach to meeting children’s needs.  We also look forward to announcing the newest member of the 4th grade team - stay tuned!

A great deal of time, effort and thought has gone into the process of student placement for the 2020-2021 school year.  Careful consideration was given to input from staff and families, as well as student learning styles. Classrooms have been balanced academically and socially. Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level.    In addition, careful planning has been underway to establish classrooms that meet social distancing guidelines. Please be aware that as we return to in person instruction, homeroom assignments may be subject to change to continue to ensure we meet all necessary guidelines.

Where a traditional open house is not possible this year, we would like to invite you to our drive thru “Beep & Greet” Open House.  Please plan to drive through the Emma B. Ward campus on the dates listed below to wave at teachers and staff and pick up virtual learning materials.  Please display your child’s name and grade level in your car window for identification.
