Anderson County Schools

B&K

Hello, I am Katelyn Pinkston, one of the two agricultural education teachers and FFA advisors at Anderson County High School. I am looking forward to working with each one of you!

I grew up on a small family farm in North Central Kansas where we raised sheep, cattle, and hogs. We also had a row crop operation, where we grew wheat, soybeans, milo (grain sorghum), and corn. I absolutely loved growing up on a farm and being immersed in the agricultural lifestyle. In high school I was heavily involved in FFA at the local, district, and state levels. My supervised agricultural experience was Diversified Livestock Production Entrepreneurship. Each of these experiences is what led me to be an ag teacher!

In May of 2020, I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. My husband Ben and I have been married for about three years now. He is actually a Kentucky native, so we are excited to be in this area. We love to travel, visit family, kayak, play pickleball, and be aunt and uncle to our sweet niece and nephew!

This will be my second year at ACHS. I will be teaching the Equine Science, Veterinary Science I & II, Introduction to Greenhouse and Crop Production, Floral Design, Animal Science, and Greenhouse Technology courses this year. My hope for these courses is that you will find things that interest you through our hands-on learning approach to the content.

As an agricultural education student, you also have the opportunity to be an FFA member. FFA is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give members the tools to achieve real-world success. This year Anderson County FFA is an affiliate chapter, meaning that all students that are enrolled in an agricultural education course are FFA members. This was made possible through the generosity of Anderson County Farm Bureau!

To the right you can find the syllabus for your class. For questions regarding the specific courses – please see my Google Classroom pages. Feel free to contact me at any time with questions, comments or concerns.
